Deanna is currently working at an Alzheimer's assisted living community called Colonial Gardens, formerly Barton House, as a Program Coordinator. She has a tremendous heart and a compassionate vocation in caring for our elderly loved ones. There's not a day that goes by that she tells me a heartwarming and sad story about the people and families that she cares for. Not to mention the staff!!! But we'll let her tell you those in person. You never know who will read these things!
I'm am constantly amazed at how she handles the trials of her job. She is truly gifted with a heart of love for this population. For me at least, she is someone that can teach me what honest caring is all about. Deanna really looks inside of the people that she is caring for, right to their heart and soul, embraces them, and shares with them the moments she is given. It's wonderful... Her spirit brings a calmness to those that encounter her throughout her day that many other caregivers envy. When you listen to her talk about her day it's easy to see why.

When I don't have my nose jammed in a book learning to use the force, I serve with a wonderful church family, known as St. Austin Catholic Church, by coordinating infant baptism and as an Administrative Assistant for the Faith Education and Formation ministry. This is an awesome and inspiring place to be! This parish has some amazing ministries that serve our downtown community. If you would like to check out what our parish has to offer please visit us online!
Anyway, that's a little bit about what we do here in good'ole Austin, Texas. Hopefully I can get Deanna to post something about this "weird" city that we live in! She can tell about it much better than I can. Remember, keep the Son in your eyes and your eyes to the sky! Pax tecum!!!
